A Scene for a Utopia approaches utopia not as a distant ideal, but as a temporary, constructed situation within everyday life. By staging a recognizable scene of leisure — a beach — in the middle of the city, the project exposes utopia as both a shared desire and a fragile fiction. A theater curtain frames this space as a scene, while the real bodies that approach it activate it. Utopia emerges through small acts of participation — pausing, inhabiting, interacting — transforming ordinary gestures into moments of collective imagination and alternative ways of being together in public space.

About the Artist(s)
María Belén Robeda (La Plata, Buenos Aires, Argentina) is a visual artist, set designer, and art director. She holds a degree in Visual Arts with a specialization in Set Design and Painting from the Faculty of Arts at the National University of La Plata (UNLP) and a Master’s degree in Performing Arts from the University of Seville, Spain.
Her artistic practice is interdisciplinary, encompassing painting, drawing, installation, and set design, exploring the relationships between the body, space, and the construction of visual universes. She has also worked on independent film and theater projects as an art director, set designer, and costume designer.
She has participated in exhibitions, festivals and artistic residencies in Argentina and abroad, including the Forma y Sustancia International Performance Festival (Costa Rica), Tudanzas Festival (Barcelona, Spain), Art Basel Cities (Buenos Aires, Argentina), Vitrine01 (Germany), Imaginarius – International Street Theatre Festival (Portugal), Confluences Festival (Argentina), Circuitos (Spain) and the International Videodance Festival (Brazil), among others.
