Blanka Amezkua
My performance consists of wearing a dress and a headpiece, reminiscent of a Chinelo conical hat, and invite participants in creating a silk flower, similar to the ones on my head piece, while sharing information about the Codex de la Cruz-Badiano, the fist medical book known created in the Americas in 1552, and its healing plant traditions.

Blanka Amezkua is an interdisciplinary artist, educator, project initiator, and founder of the artist run space AAA3A in NYC, now AAA3A/migrates. Formally trained as a painter, her practice is greatly influenced by folk art + popular culture. Amezkua is a member of Running for Ayotzinapa 43, an international community of runners and believes we are all cultural bearers.
