Nicolás Barrera Martínez
Inspired by the dynamics of Flash Tattoo events, this project turns pictorial creation into a public, collaborative act. From a series of predefined pictograms and ideograms, the attendee selects a design and assigns its color palette. Under an assembly-line production model —similar to that of a small factory—, the artist executes the piece in real time for immediate delivery. The project displaces the solitary act of painting, transforming the creative process into an assembly line open to the viewer, where the work is created and given away in real time.

Nicolás Barrera Martínez is an interdisciplinary artist and painting professor. His artistic practice explores the possibilities of exhaustion between the reciprocal forms of production of art, design and craftsmanship. Usually he appeals to a popular imagery to create a void of meaning which subtly refers process of production and boredom.
