Yali Romagoza
Flood (A Path Through) is a site-responsive fiber installation composed of linen transformed through the repeated hand-pulling of threads. Inspired by traces of water moving across the pavement, the installation creates its own path through the site, drawing from the way water navigates architecture and finds its way through space.
Within the framework of UTOPIAS, the work considers the city as a space that can be continually reorganized by forces often overlooked. As the linen moves across the sidewalk, it subtly interrupts habitual pedestrian movement, inviting people to alter their routes and find their own paths around and through the site.

About the Artist(s)
Yali Romagoza is a Cuban interdisciplinary artist based in New York. Working across fiber sculpture, installation, performance, and video, she explores migration, embodiment, and memory through labor-intensive textile processes. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally and supported by Franklin Furnace, The Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts, and the Queens Arts Fund.
