About the Artist(s)
Panamanian artist Susana Gonzalez-Revilla (b. 1982) uses performance and public art to confront violence and corruption through actions in places like the Palace of Justice in Panama City. Her interventions in public spaces thrive on the immediacy of the viewer’s reaction. In private, her practice flows with painting. An intuitive dance of controlled chance and gestural freedom gives life to poetic compositions and vibrant, expanding universes of stellar and microscopic forms that invite the viewer into a contemplative posture of intimate contemplation. She questions the status quo by ritualizing daily life and using art as visceral prayer, an antidote to chaos and impotence. She trained at institutions such as, Scuola Lorenzo de Medici in Italy, Sarah Lawrence College in the USA and the Victorian College of the Arts in Australia.
