LVJ Performance Co.: Lead Choreographer, Director and Performer: Larissa Velez-Jackson, Co-choreographer, Performer: Jillian Sweeney
LVJ Performance Co. presents a dance duet that merges into and interrupts public space. Larissa Velez-Jackson (director, lead choreographer and performer) and Jillian Sweeney (co-choreographer and performer) blend into the street environment through stillness and ordinariness, punctuated by wild flurries of partner movement and sound. The way they interact with the physical environment of the city, each other and passersby is rooted in notions of decolonization and disability practice. They will be outfitted with a black hand-wagon with simple props like foldable stools for resting and other necessary performance goodies.

About the Artist(s)
Larissa Velez-Jackson, called “an adroit physical comedian” who “seems to be questioning conventions of contemporary performance” in The New York Times, is a choreographer, movement educator, a multi-platform artist of Boriqua-Italian descent and a multiple myeloma survivor. They are the Artistic Director of LVJ Performance Co., the creator of the Star Pû Method for dancers and the co-creator of the band Yackez with Jon Velez-Jackson.
