La Diosa de Corazones is a performance art and urban intervention project that explores the dichotomy between a threatening appearance and a benevolent presence. The entity, distinguished by a metallic heart that alternates as a removable mask over her face, inhabits everyday public spaces in order to subvert the emotional coldness of the urban environment. Through the distribution of symbolic hearts and the proclamation of utopian statements, the project seeks to sow affection among passersby. It is an invitation to radical tenderness, where a visually disruptive figure becomes a vehicle for love and collective memory.
Participation is interactive and relational. The audience is not a passive observer but the direct recipient of a gift. Receiving the heart establishes both a tactile and emotional connection with the artwork, inviting personal reflection on the presence and meaning of love within public space.

About the Artist(s)
She was born in Mexico City in 1948. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Information Sciences and Techniques from the Universidad Iberoamericana. In London, she attended the City Literary Institute and took photography courses. She completed a master’s degree in Visual Arts at the National School of Visual Arts (ENAP) of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). She was a professor at the Faculty of Political and Social Sciences (FAP) of UNAM from 1975 to 2009. Her artwork explores self-portraiture as a form of self-knowledge and incorporates imagery from universal art and mass media. She specializes in archetypes, prototypes, and female stereotypes, which she applies both in her research in comics and photonovels and in the development of her artistic career, which includes photography since 1968, performance art, object art, installation art, video art, video performance, collage, and electrography.
