In this ongoing series of public actions, I seek to proliferate possible models for living with/through/after the collapse of Empire. action 20 invites a group of insurgent scholars to reimagine the university and its limiting conception of study by convening a public reading group on the sidewalk of E 14th St. What can public scholarship look like outside of the bounds of institutional control? What if around every corner we found a library, an archive? What could happen if the ivory tower crumbled and poured out into the street?

About the Artist(s)
Noah Ortega (they/them) is an interdisciplinary performance artist and adjunct professor currently living in Brooklyn, NY. Utilizing their background in theatre, speculative philosophy, and anarcho-Marxist politics, they have come to develop an artist/scholar practice that is deeply personal, constantly chaotic, and furiously DIY.
